We recorded pings of between 28 and 32 ms on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and had no instances of loss, stuttering or other lag that could be attributable to the adapter. This indicates that the ethernet adapter is fit for purpose.įinally, we tried gaming while using the adapter. We also tried copying a file between two computers connected with a single ethernet cable, and got transfer speeds of 850 Mb/s reading and 750 Mb/s writing.
In terms of performance, we recorded internet speeds of 35 MB/s on, compared to 32 MB/s while connected to a 5GHz wireless network in the next room. The cable’s length was sufficient to keep it out of the way of other nearby peripherals.
We plugged the adapter in and connected an ethernet cable, and got online immediately - no special drivers or software needed. We tested the Aukey adapter with an laptop, which has a single USB-C port and no ethernet port. The adapter is made from plastic, but the build quality is reasonable and I don’t foresee any durability or longevity issues.
